Dedicated to Failure

First up is a band from Olympia called Gag. They have a few 7"s out that are great, so check them out!
Warcollapse put out numerous records in the 90's and play brutal crust core. They have gotten back together and played numerous festivals. This is them playing at a Profane Existence show in Minneapolis.
Dead Boys are about as classic as you can get. This is a killer live video of them playing at CBGB's in 1977.
Savageheads are a new band out of Boston and play great, straight ahead punk with a heavy dose of 80's punk influence.
Warcry have been around for some time now and seem to play sporadicly, due to the members involvement in other bands. This is a fantastic live video of them playing in Sweden.
This is an older video of Extinction of Mankind recording their split with Misery in Minneapolis. I was lucky enough to see them with Misery when they toured and it was an epic show. I'm not sure that they are too active anymore, check it out!
Next I have a great multi-cam video of the Chicago band, The Repos
Average Times play a garage style of punk that is very catchy. This is video is called Popsicle.
Agent Attitude are fucking awesome and you should check them out! Super tight live set of raging hardcore!
Great video of the insanely killer hardcore band from Canada, Haymaker. They stopped playing for a bit and may have started again, I'm not totally sure. If you have not checked them out before you should get any of their 7"s if you can find them. The 'hate the kids' one might be my favorite but really everything they put out is awesome.
Lastly I have a video of the amazing Texas band, Deskonocidos. This is a live video of them playing at Sub Mission in SF. These guys have a few records out and a demo, all of them are awesome. Great melodic, punk.

Burden of Rebuttal

Demon System 13 were around in the early 2000's and put out two stellar Lp's and numerous 7"s. I got to see them on their second US tour sometime in the early 2000's and they were fantastic. They have been broken up for a number of years and reunited to play the last show of a infamous practice space in Umea, Sweden, where they are from. Check it out. "Users are losers!"
Deadly Reign are from So Cal and play brutal crust. The band features members of many other notable bands like Glycine Max, Scarred for Life and more.
Next is a killer new band out of SF (or it least mostly..) called Fatigue. They recently played at the Hemlock in San Fransisco with another amazing band, Radioactivity. I was lucky enough to make it out on a Wednesday (don't talk shit, I'm getting old) and was immensely happy that I did. Both bands made every second of my sleep deprived next day worth it. Fatigue has a 7" out that you should absolutely seek out.
Kuudes Silma are an awesome post punk band from Helsinki. They have a killer Lp out and a few 7"s, all of which are perfectly moody, in the post punk kind of way that I love. Check 'em out!
Nervosas are an awesome punk band from Columbus Ohio. They have two Lp's out and the newest came out earlier this year. Both have been in almost constant rotation on my record player recently. They are one of those bands that as I continued to listen, I became more and more obsessed. Really, REALLY great dark punk. This video is the best quality video I could find and its of them playing in Germany.
Wartorn are from Wisconsin and play brutal blackened crust. The band features members of other Wisconsin bands like Remission and Dresden. I think as time has gone on they have just honed in on their style and have just gotten better.
Lastly I have another great video of the Spanish band Belgrado playing in Sao Paulo in 2014. This video is really fantastic quality, my only complaint is that the vocals could be a bit higher. Otherwise it really features them very nicely.

Fallacious behavior

First up is an awesome new band from Colombia called Dead Hero. They play straight forward Oi! with that classic sound.
Next is a video featuring four different bands. First is Darge from South Korea, then Disgust from Japan, then Death from Above from Brazil and finally Unfit Scum who are also from Brazil. All four bands put out a compilation Cd together and all of them play different variations of crust. Check it out.
After that brutal video I have something a little more melodic. It's Montreal's Sonic Avenues. This is a video shot of them playing on KEXP out of Seattle. For those that like some pop punk in their life, I highly recommend Sonic Avenues.
Deaf Kids play crazy and noisy brutal hardcore. At times it reminds me of Destino Final but only a little. They are from Brazil and this video is them playing live at Obscene Extreme.
Ok now to finish this post off with a classic. It's the Newtown Neurotics doing when the oil runs out.

Neglected morality

New video for the new Mischief Brew album. Great song and a great video. They also have another video for the album that I featured on this blog a little while back.
Next is a live video of an awesome new Portland band called The Stops. They play a straight forward style of punk. It kind of reminds me of bands like The Gits. Check it out!
Now time for some 90's classics. This is a surprisingly good quality video of Aus Rotten playing at CBGBs. The video is from 1997 which a year or so before I got to see them play on the Primate Freedom tour. The system works for them was the best full length put out by them in my opinion, so here is them playing the title track, with sound clips and all!
Flesh World have been around for a couple years now and are out of San Fransisco. They have a dark punk, retro sound, but they do stand out from the rest of the bands playing this style of punk. I have their first Lp and a 7", both of which are fantastic.
Bombenalarm were an amazing band from Germany. They put two Lp's out and both are absolutely fantastic. Not very many videos of them can be found and this was the best I could come up with but it doesn't do them the justice they deserve. I know it least one member was also in another amazing band called Burial. So check them both out!
Lastly is another 90's video of the long running anarcho UK punks DIRT. This video was shot on their USA tour in Long Beach in 1994.

Denial of complacency

HARD LEFT put out their first Lp earlier this year and now have a music video to represent it. The album is amazing from start to finish. Unpolished Oi, produced to perfection!
I a pretty sure that World Burns to Death doesn't play anymore but, after seeing this video I was reminded of how intense their live shows were. This is a decent single cam video of them playing at what I think was the last Pointless fest in Philly.
No Problem have been around for a while now and have really perfected their sound. This video is old but, it was the best quality video I could find. Make sure you check out their most recent Lp.
Terrible feelings released a new album a couple months back and it has their trademark gloomy, melodic punk sound. It's absolutely wonderful. Check it out!

Lastly I have a decent quality video of the fucking killer band Ruleta Rusa. They just returned from Europe and from what I have heard it was a blast. This video was shot of them playing the outdoor fest caos a gracia which is held in the streets of Barcelona.

Suffer through the insanity

This time I am starting off with a new video from the latest Radioactivity album, Silent Kill. The entire album is fucking amazing. Do yourself a favor and check it out. It really doesn't have one bad song on it and I heard they are touring again in the Fall. Go see them!
Next up is a live video from the Toronto punks and rockers group and it features the awesome band Hassler. This band is everything hardcore punk is meant to be! I have only heard the Lp they have and it rips from beginning to end.
TV Freaks play an infectious style of punk. It feels like the music is just barely held together and I love it! To play a more straight forward style of punk I think its necessary to have this quality and keep it loose.
Lastly I have a video of the band Line Traps. The video is mostly stock footage of people getting crazy and it fits really good with the music. Great stuff!

Energy for none

First up is a video of a cool band called Nuclear Spring. Its a decent quality live video of them playing in Sweden.
Next is a cool video by the now defunct Copenaghen band Snipers. They feature members that were also in No hope for the kids. Pretty awesome stuff from the early 2000's.
Dig og Mig is another band from Denmark featuring a member of no hope for the kids. This band is very catchy and you will get their songs stuck in your head.
Next is an awesome new Spanish band called Suicidas. This video is live in NYC from earlier this year.
Oroku were an awesome crust band from Seattle. They didn't put out many records, but what they did is fucking awesome. I saw them play in Austin and was immediately hooked. Check them out, brutal stuff.
This video is from a new band out of Sweden called Price of Silence. Pretty killer stuff and I think they only have this 7" so far. Hopefully they keep it going and release more soon!
Holograms play post-punk and hail from Sweden. The video is weird and may make you dizzy.
Lastly is a killer video from those noisy Japanese punks Framtid. The video comes from a DVD and has amazing quality.

Everyday Failure Routine

First up is the killer new band Ssyndrom. They play killer raw punk and hail from Sacramento. Check it
Up next is a video from a somewhat recent single by From Ashes Rise
Lost Tribe are an awesome band from Richmond and have an 80's peace punk sound that shares similarities with Anti-Sect and other bands from that era.
Shadow house play dark post punk and reign from Portland. If you like bands like Spectres, then you will probably like this band.
Next up is another killer band called OBNII's. They are from Austin and play a garage style of punk that I really dig.
Total Vomit Experience are from Finland and play raging crustcore. Check em out!
Loud Boyz play straight forward, hard driving punk rock. They are from DC and other than that, I don't know much about them.
Finally we have The Carnival who are also from Finland. The video is weird but the song rocks.

Tradition should not dictate perspective

First up I have a great band called Anti-Kimaks. They are from Indonesia and play fast and  aggressive punk. This almost doesn't qualify as a video but, I really like the song so I wanted to share it anyway.
Diskelma are a Finnish band that play crust infused rock n roll and they don't take themselves too seriously. This video is awesome and almost as great as the song. Check 'em out!

Next I have another killer band from Finland. It's the band Wasted. They play catchy punk that has really grown on me the more I listen. Check 'em out.
Next is an awesome NYC band called Nomad. Killer riffs and relentless hardcore punk! This is a decent live video of them playing the New York's Alright fest in 2014.

Future are an awesome punk band from São Paulo. They play melodic punk that has the right amount of edge to give it a melancholy feel. The video is decent enough to get a good idea of their sound.

Ok, lastly I have another band from Brazil but this band sounds very different. They are called Violator and play straight forward thrash that has  similarities to DRI and maybe even a little early Metallica. Prepare to have a majorly sore neck after this one!

Ok I changed my mind and had to add this last one. Doom  actually made a video! It's for a killer track off their most recent Lp.

Sloth adjustment summer

First up is a pretty rad band that I know nothing about. This video features them playing live on Toronto's Equalizing Distort and they are called IDNS.
Awesome brutal crust from the Japanese band, Effigy! They know how to construct brutal riffs! This is live footage from the All Crusties Spending Loud Nights DVD.
Government Flu are from Poland and play fast, straight forward punk music. This is a great multi cam live video of them playing at what appears to be a house. Check them out.
Up next is a funny video from the band Hellmaistroz. They are from Mexico and play heavy crust with a rock n roll influence.
Next is a live, multi cam video, of Tragedy playing someplace in Mexico. The sound quality is just OK but it is a decent live video of them. They always sound great live, so audio wise this video doesn't do them justice.

To Destroy your honor....

First up is an awesome Toronto punk band called Wasteoids. They had a few releases back in 2013 and I am not sure if they are still active. Check out this video of them playing live on Equalizing Distort.
Next is an awesome Finnish band called Lapinpolthajat. They play straight forward punk and their songs will get stuck in your head. Their newest Lp is soon to get its USA pressing done by Havoc.
Here is a video from a few years back of these Swedish rangers, Uncurbed. From what  I have heard these guys know how to party!
Acrostix play killer Japanese hardcore. Every release that I have of their's is brutal and does not disappoint. This is a video made for some fest.

Ok now for some metal. Midnight play metal the way it supposed to be played. It's not pretty and its also not over the top, production wise. The satanic thing gets a little old but if you liked classic Venom I think you will like them.
The Flex play killer hardcore that is not too unlike other modern bands like Boston Strangler. Check 'em out!
Bloody Riot were around in the 80's and write some great, catchy songs. They came out of Italy and shared it least one member with Rawpower.

Punkeye creek invasion!!!

First up is a fun video from the Portland band The Chemicals

Here is an awesome video of the hardcore punk band Gag Reflex. Playing someplace in Canada.
Killer hardcore band ACxDC. These guys are out of Arizona and rage pretty hard.
Up next is a great track from Big Eyes. Came out on a single a number of years back. Check it out!
Cool song by the band Nu Pogodi. I really don't know much about this band and I have no idea where they are from but I like song and video. I do know that the footage and pictures are from their East Coast tour in 2013.
Awesome video of the brutal Japanese crust band Age. They toured with Hellshock a few years band and were amazing live. This is a multi-cam video with decent sound quality.
Here is a cool video from the Canadian band White Lung. The song is one of my favorite by them because it has a really dark flavor to it.
Again I am late to the game and when this video came out it was my first time hearing Connoisseur and boy was I missing out! This is easily one of my favorite new bands. They are heavy and witty at the same time. They have a lot of emphasis on weed which bores me usually but not with these guys. They have another video out that is equally as cool and you should most definitely search out their records and buy them.

delinquent study habits

Hard Left are a new Oi outfit from Oakland. They wear their politics on their sleeves. They have a couple 7"s out and an Lp that literally just came out. Production quality on the Lp is spot on and not over produced, like many current Oi bands. This almost doesn't qualify as a video, but because of my constant rotation of their new Lp, I just couldn't pass up including them on the blog.
Awesome video of this killer punk band from Barcelona. Destino Final only put out a little bit of music, but what they did put out is top notch hardcore punk. Their live shows were insane and the music just embraces that punk angst.
Kicker are a bunch of old guys from many different killer bay area bands, such as Dystopia and Neurosis, but they sound nothing like either of them. Kicker are straight forward punk, with no frills and light hearted lyrics. This band is meant to be fun and thats exactly what it is. Check em out.
Great video of the legendary Belgium band The Kids. Its from 1978 so it is well before they came out with their not so great material. The video even features pieces of an interview with english subs.
Rifle Diet are a newish crust band from Minneapolis featuring members from Garmonbozia and In Defence. Heavy crust with melodic bits.

This is your policy review...

Utanforskapet are a Swedish band that are a few years old and play a style of crust mixed with rock n roll. The members were apart of other notable projects like the Uncurbed and Asocial. They only have two releases out but both are worth checking out.

Scab Eater are a new band of Aussies that play raging punk. I know they have an EP out, but I am not sure what else.

Dromdead are a crust band out of Venezuela. They play that classic style of hardcore punk taken from bands like The Varukers and they do it well.
Great quality live video of Gorilla Angreb. Gorilla Angreb were an awesome band out of Denmark and they broke up a few years ago. All their records are still great and worth checking out if you didn't the first time around.

There is little I can say about Anti-Cimex that has not been said before. Feral Ward has teamed up with others to reissue all their classic material properly. The box set has just became available again on Feral Wards web site and are limited to one per order. They are 90$ but I am sure they are worth every penny. Anyone have 90$ I can barrow?

The Barracudas just seep energy and fun. The fact that English kids wrote songs about the California sun is pretty silly, but they are just so good it doesn't matter. This is music meant to be partied to.

Zabandijas de la 18 are from Ecuador and play fast punk with no frills but lots of energy. Check 'em out.

Really fun video from The Brokedowns. They have another video that is just as entertaining if you like this one. They play a style of punk that resembles pop punk, but it still has a rough edges, which to me is what makes them stand out from others.

The Slowmotions are crazy punk rockers from Japan. All you need is this video to prove their insanity to you. I have the dial tone lp and a couple 7"s and they are all similar sloppy punk and it rules.

The Seven sections of an unhealthy existence

DSB were around for many years and released many 7"s, the pure civilization one being their best. I still play the Kill the Phantom City Lp regularaly and it has held up well. RADICAL PUNKS NEVER DIE!!!
Great quality video of Meanwhile playing at the punk illegal fest in Sweden.
Kylesa were the continuation of Damad and had a similar sound to them in their first couple releases. Being a huge fan of Damad, I was excited when I heard that they were going to continue on. The first and second Lp's they put out were amazing. Their more recent material is a little too well produced for my tastes, but they still write some brutal music. Check out this video of 100 degree heat index.
Zex are a newer band from Canada featuring members from Germ Attack. At times they are kinda silly but it's still pretty rocking material. They have a few videos out so if you like them check the others out and buy their records!

Polikarpa y sus vicious are an awesome punk band from Colombia. They have a few releases that came out in the early 2000's but I am not sure if they are still active. Check 'em out!
The Jellyroll Rockheads were a band out of Japan in the early 2000's. They put out a few 7"s, all featuring their brand of fierce fastcore music with melodic or 'skate' punk parts mixed in. This is a high quality live video of them. Enjoy.

Good thing thats over with.....

Herdeiros do Odio are an awesome band from Sao Paulo Brazil. They play straight forward punk/crust with a catchy side to it.  am not sure what they have out but they do have a few videos. Check 'em out!

This is a promotion video for the D-Clone Nerveskade Japanese tour. Both bands were great and I am pretty sure neither plays anymore. A few of the members of Nerveskade are now in Bi-Marks. I think I may still have ear damage from the time I saw D-Clone!

Criminal Code are an awesome band from Tacoma Washington. Their first Lp and couple 7"s are great. I have yet to get the second Lp but from the few tracks I have heard it is equally as good. This is a great live set by them on KEXP.

Friday, April 24, 2015

Mean streets of El Camino....

Cool video featuring both Born Dead Icons and La Fraction touring the states together. I got to see them both on this tour with cripple bastards at Gilman and then again at chaos in tejas.  I think that Born Dead Icons  got better as they progressed and the same could be said about La Fraction. The third La Fraction Lp really showed them at their prime and their most recent 7" is right along those lines.
Contrast Attitude from Japan are a brutal, noisy punk band that toured the east coast in 2013 with Aspects of War. Check 'em out!
White Wires were a super catchy punk band from Canada that featured ex members of The Sedatives. They put out three Lps and I think the last one is the best. If you like the video find yourself a copy.
Ghoul are the best metal band around right now. The music is brutal and fun. I know many punks are into black metal bands and I like some too, but many of them take themselves waaaayyyy too seriously. These guys don't. Their live shows are a blast too and not to be missed.

Your lack of self correction, makes your opinions irrelevant!

From Ashes Rise have been around and yes I know that everyone has heard them at this point. They seem to have slowed down in the last few years and it may be due to other projects the members are busy with. They have always put on great live shows. I think the first time I saw them was in the late 90s and they floored me. The first two 7"s and the first couple Lps were stellar. Nightmares though has to be their best. Anyway too much rambling watch the video.
The Sydney Ducks were the best Oi band in the bay area for as long as they lasted. Great song writing, delivered raw, the way that Oi and punk are supposed to be. I am pretty sure they don't play anymore but I could be wrong. Check em out in this video but make sure to listen to their studio material as this video doesn't do them justice.
Mundo Muerto are a killer band from So Cal. They don't seem to play that much now days. I have their Lp and it is awesome! Their live shows are great too.
Steve Adamyk Band are from Ottawa and play a infectious style of punk similar to that of late 80s early 90s bay area punk bands. They have ex members from The Sedatives and have shared or share members with Sonic Avenues and Pregnancy Scares. This song is off their fourth Lp that came out somewhat recently and is a bit more mid tempo than their previous releases, but its still great.
Raw Noise were a killer band from the UK featuring members from epic bands such as Extreme Noise Terror and Death Dealers. The video is exactly what you would expect.

Absence of Connectivity

Classic Japanese punk! The Stalin were great back in 1982 and the music has not lost any of its edge.
Seein' Red were an awesome dutch band that arose from the ashes of LARM. They put out many releases and off the top of my head I can think of it least 7 that I have and none of them stray away from their manic punk style. This video is from their last show in Amsterdam in 2012.
Oi Polloi have been playing so long at this point that I am sure everyone with even a little exposure to the punk scene has heard of them, but I don't think they get the respect they deserve. I can listen to Oi Polloi from the 80's, 90's and 2000's and although their sound has changed some they still remain a great band. My personal favorite is the anarchoi Lp. Mostly because it was my first exposure to the band back in the 90's. Anyway after all these years they now actually have a music video. Enjoy.
Sad Boys are an awesome straight ahead punk band from NYC. Killer band with simple riffs, but packed with energy! This is them playing on the Portland radio station KBOO.

Unaffordable existence

Young Wasteners were an awesome Danish punk band in the early 2000's. I think they only released a Lp and 7" but both are stellar. At the time I remember thinking that it seemed like all these European bands (Young Wasteners, No hope for the kids, Regulations ect.)were doing the 80s USA punk sound better than anyone in the states. It probably still represents the best reproduction of the sound but all those bands had a way of keeping themselves unique.
PASSIV DÖDSHJÄLP are a Swedish crust band that plays tight, metallic and somewhat melodic music. Maybe melodic is not the right word, but they have a sound like Skitsystem but with a little more melody and metal thrown into the mix. I dig it.
Crucifix or 1984, as they now are calling themselves, have reformed and been performing the entire dehumanization Lp from start to finish, and it is fucking amazing. They just returned from Japan and might do more shows. So if you get a chance to see them don't pass it up!!
Death Side are fucking absolutely essential Japanese hardcore. One of the creators of burning spirits style hardcore this is a killer video of them playing live. The quality doesn't get any better for Death Side videos. Members went on to be in other legendary bands such as Forward, Paintbox,Judgement and others.
Brutal Knights are a silly bunch of Canadians. They have lots of material out. I have a couple Lps and they are all a mix of punk and a good sense of humor. Good stuff.
I am not a big fan of most of the "folk punk" out there. But I have a big soft spot for Mischief Brew. I feel like the song writing is top notch. I think a major part of being a good folk musician is being able to tell a story in a way that keeps the audience captivated. Mischief Brew does this in a way most cannot. To me it is the perfect cross between Billy Bragg and punk.
Damaged Head are an awesome new band from Sweden. Fast, aggressive punk! The one sided Lp had me sold on this band and the follow up did not disappoint. Check out this live video and if you are intrigued get the records!

I am guilty of every fallacy imaginable

Instinct of Survival are brutal stench-core and have been featured on this blog before but I felt the need to put them up here again as their second Lp gets constant rotation from myself.
Libyans are an awesome punk band from Boston. Simple and to the point and done with enthusiasm. It gives the music a driving quality that makes them stand out from the rest. Anyway the video is OK the song is great. Check them out..
Gay Kiss are an awesome band from Arizona are seem to be quite active. They have some blistering fast parts that go flawlessly with their breakdowns. Caution this video may cause seizures!
This video really took me by surprise. I don't know a lot about Helms Alee but this video a awesome nod to 90s videos. Check it out.
Killer video of the always brutal Stormcrow playing at Hoppers house in Portland. I have never seen so much headbanging in Portland. It's a headbangers ball!!! ....terrible joke
So I have now featured two bands on this post twice on the blog. Kill me. Both Belgrado Lps are great. Get them if you can. I am guilty of every fallacy imaginable

Mountains of Madness

Deathraid are the continuation of Consume and features many of the same members. All from other great bands like State of Fear, Shitlist,Decrepit and too many others to mention. Their last record was a split Lp with Desperat and it kills. This is a live video but its a good quality one of them playing at Black Water in Portland.
Killer track from Feral Trash. Melodic and dark. Just the way I like it! The video is a good companion for the song even though I don't think it was necessarily connected to the band.
Awesome band Glue playing live on the Local Live college radio station out of Austin. Great hardcore punk, straight forward and mean, the way it is meant to be.
Good quality live video of Lip Cream. Absolutely essential Japanese hardcore. Not much more to say.
Kontatto are an awesome crust band from Italy. Members also in Giuda (the crust one). I am not sure if they still play but all their records are equally good and the Giuda Lp is great too.
Classic 80s punk from Spain by Commando 9mm. The video is a little silly but it doesn't take away from the awesome song.

Bark Shredded Fiber Rock

Bishops Green are a great melodic Oi band from Vancouver, Canada. This may be my favorite song from them. Make sure you check out more from them, because many of their songs have the same high quality, and get stuck in your head easily! At times they remind me of Oxymoron and other greats, but they definitely have their own thing going on.
Vrak are a newer band from Sweden. They have ex members of many notable bands. Such as Martyrdod, Sju svara ar and At the gates. But with that mentioned, they successfully sound like none of them. They at times remind me of some 90's bands but I have yet to come up with a solid comparison. They only have one single out which features this song but hopefully we will get more from them in the near future. Check 'em out!
Fuck this band is brutal! Boston Strangler took the hardcore world by storm with their first Lp. Totally brutal hardcore done in a way that few pull of well. It's tough without being tough guy bullshit. I know they are well known at this point but if you are one of the few that have not heard them, you need to check them out! Their second Lp dropped a few months back. Check it out.
Bi-Marks are an awesome punk band out of Portland. They definitely resemble 80s american punk bands like christ on parade and early pain of mind era neurosis. I have their first Lp which came out a while ago now, and it rules! Tight, interesting punk with killer bass lines. Just the way I like it!!

Deaf, dumb and punk

Great video of one of the best punk bands ever! CHAOS UK!
Awesome crust band from Mexico Antimaster! I only have one Lp by these guys but it rips! Get it if you have the chance. This video is of their Euro tour from a few years back. Enjoy
Sonic Avenues are an awesome band from Canada. They have that melodic punk sound but are better then most of the other bands doing it. Check out this video for Automatic from their 3rd Lp.
I don't think you can get much more of a classic Oi track than this one. It's Blitz doing new age and yes I know you have heard it before but who fucking cares its still great.
This is a great video of Negative Approach along with some great commentary from some kids from the 80s.
Misery have been around for ever. I was lucky enough to see them with Extinction of Mankind back in 01 and they were awesome! In my opinion all of their records are great except maybe the split with Toxic Narcotic but it still has a couple killer tracks on it. At one point I had a copy of the VHS they made which was full of gross shit and live footage. Anyway check out this video for a song that I believe was on their more recent album which I believe may have been their last.
I don't know much about this band but I really dig the song. They are called Abfukk and I think they are German but I could be wrong. Check em out and if you know anymore about them let me know!

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Your opinion does not qualify as evidence

First up is a pro shot, live video of the Finnish band Paa Kii. I am not sure if they are still active but in 2013 they put out an amazing Lp that is really catchy punk and reminds me of that old bay area/Lookout records sound.
DISCLOSE is THE band when it comes to noise punk from Japan. They toured the west coast in 2001 and someone had the bright idea to make a DVD out of it. This is the entire DVD and the shows range from great quality to just OK but its Disclose so it doesn't fucking matter. It is awesome that someone uploaded the entire video for all to enjoy.
Putas Mierdas are group of punk rock kids hailing from Mexico. Much like Los Monjo they stick to the basic punk sound but they do it very well and are absolutely worth checking out.
I really don't think I need to say anything about this band but I should mention that this clip is from a documentary about Pacific North West music scene. It is mostly good and worth checking out. Its called Northwest Passage. The Wipers
Eyehategod have been doing their thing for many, many years now. Recently they have been on the road constantly. They have one of the heaviest sounds around and a style that is all their own. This is a pro shot video of them playing life for their 25th anniversary.

Deconstructing your shameful existence

Desperat are a bunch of punk/hardcore vets that have already put out a flurry of records in their short existence. Everything they have put out so far is absolutely essential. Check them out!
Oxymoron were one of the best punk bands of the 90's. Some of the best, most infectious punk music to come out of that era. The songs get stuck in your head and refuse to leave. I LOST MY DADDIES HEAD!
Classic video of Nausea live somewhere in Europe. I think it may be from the same show that the live Lp I have is from(?), but I'm not sure. Anyway I still really dig the Cybergod 7" even though the topic may seem kind of dated now (or more relevant then ever?). I don't think there is much more I can say about them that has not been said before.
Red Dons are an amazing band, live and in the studio. Stellar song writing that is melodic and sincere in a way that is unlike many other bands. In fact I really can't think of any accurate comparisons. There are not that many good videos of them online and this is the best one that I could find. If you have not checked them out before chances are good that you also have not heard the band that the singer was in before called The Observers. They are very similar and equally as good.
Pick Your Side is the band that has members from the now defunct band Haymaker. They both resemble each other but Pick your side is a little more complex in their song writing. Still though great, angry hardcore. This is a live video of them playing on the radio show Equalizing Distort out of Toronto. If you have not check it out before, do so NOW!

Your life is in limbo so waste away with these songs of discontent

Evil Conduct are straight forward Oi that remains interesting and relevant. Their sound is not too clean which is the way I like my Oi/punk. Many modern US bands have way too high of production and lack any grit. Which makes them boring and flat, but not Evil Conduct. Check them out.

Behind Enemy Lines were active earlier in the 2000's and I think are no longer playing but they put out 3 Lp's over a number of years. The second one they put out is probably the best but all three are good. They were great live too. This video is from a tour they did of Mexico a few years back.

Vitamin X are a great hardcore punk/straight edge band that really stands out from many other bands doing the same thing. They have great breakdowns and rockin' leads that keep them interesting. Every record they have put out has improved over the previous one but I think that Bad Trip remains my favorite. Their live shows are not to be missed!

What can be said about Sleep that has yet to be said? Although many bands have tried to copy Sabbath I don't think anyone has done it as good as Sleep (ok maybe eyehategod) and has been able to stand out. In my humble opinion the first Lp and 7"s are the best, holy mountain is great but the last one I never listen to (if I want sludge I will listen to NOOTHGRUSH). Anyway check em out.

Wow, Infernoh is brutal! Infernoh play brutal, relentless crust and live they do not disappoint! I heard rumors they already called it quits, but if they have not, and are playing near you, make sure you go to see them!  Otherwise pick up their records, they are great! Listen to it the way it was meant to be, LOUD!
